« Grace and virtuosity
Another promising talent is Serbian pianist and harpist Nadja Dornik, who combines two instruments studied in a double curriculum at the Paris Conservatory. After having accompanied Bellini on the harp, here she is on the piano for the stunning final Alla breve of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 3, of which Raphaël Zeitoun apologized for having reduced the lush orchestration to a dozen instruments.
The wires of light bulbs lit between the trees while silhouettes stand out from the windows and terraces of neighboring buildings to listen to streams of music scattered in the coming night.
We are in Paris. It could be anywhere, or nowhere. The audience holds its breath for a Fantaisie-Impromptu, op. 66, by Chopin, played with grace and virtuosity. »
« All instrumentalists combine their talents to serve this light and complicit atmosphere, the “highlight of the show” in the words of the conductor who introduces and explains the pieces, being the Finale of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 performed by the brilliant and ultra-precise playing of Nadja Dornik. And this is not her least talent: Nadja Dornik masters both horizontal and vertical strings: she moves from the piano to the harp with the same speed, millimeter precision. »
« On October 9, Nadja Dornik, rising 16 years old harpist, has given Mozart’s concerto for flute and harp as part of the closing concert of La Côte Flûte Festival 2016, Switzerland’s international flute festival. She has performed with swiss flutist Sébastian Jacot – solo flute at the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig – and the Geneva Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Patrick Gallois, french flutist and conductor. Nadja Dornik has been invited as the winner of the first prize of the international competition “Les Rencontres Internationales de Harpes en Île de France“ in June 2016. Widely applauded by the audience, this performance will remain in memory as a luminous instant. Wonderful musician, Nadja Dornik shows an extraordinary musical maturity for her young age, and a philosophy about music which promises her to a very successful career. »
